Construction Manager
Lead a safety focused construction team on earthworks projects, manage supervisors, coordinate delivery, and drive quality and on-time delivery.

The Construction Manager (CM) is a key member of the Construction Team. A Construction manager will manage a number of NWS(Non-working Supervisors) and FLS (Frontline/working supervisors) who will be working amongst a team of operatives. The CM is responsible for communication, implementation, and adherence to a safe system of work.
The CM will oversee the area of work and monitor activities at their worksite. It is the responsibility of the CM to assess hazards, determine risks, conduct regular inspections, and maintain a safety program across the project.
Responsible for ensuring communication, implementation, and adherence to a safe system of work in a non-working capacity. Assisting site teams in problem solving, Design issues, Workforce finding, Programs, Client & Budgets and overseeing and training Apprentices on your project.
The Construction Manager will have the relevant construction experience, for this particular role, good working knowledge of earthworks plant and machinery, safe systems of works and exclusion zones, deep drainage, sheet piled cofferdams and use of groundworks support systems are necessary. Location predominantly outside of London to the west between Heathrow and Bristol, and Southampton to Northampton.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure Supervisor Site Inspection reports are completed, and actions closed out
Ensuring NWS presents site inductions, safety briefings and toolbox talks to the required standard, provide feedback and mentoring
Ensuring trades teams work together to deliver quality work
Carrying out regular inspections to ensure compliance with relevant installation details
Maintain adherence to health and safety regulations for the workforce
Ensuring all operatives are always wearing appropriate PPE
Ensuring that tasks are completed on time and to the required quality standards
Ensure that plant, equipment, material, and routine site inspections are completed
Understand the project programme and provide technical input to the programme
Ensure the coordination of deliveries for materials, plant and equipment
Ensure all supervisors maintain good-quality records and allocation sheets
Organising and overseeing external inspections, such as with a health and safety inspector
Raising safety concerns at the appropriate level, ensuring regular use of Notify and encouraging site based personnel to also utilise Notify
Resolving problems and implementing improvements
Involvement in technical solutions to project challenges
Ensuring appropriate site rules and welfare facilities are in place
Understand commercial implications of decisions, be aware of weekly and monthly cost management, and participate in cost control measures
Regular review of project plant and equipment, ensuring appropriate off-hire and on-hire management
Ensuring waste is kept to a minimum and that disposal procedures are implemented
Regular liaison with Project Managers, informing them of work progress, operatives’ competency and quality of work
Maintaining a well-kept and tidy site
Ensuring a good standard of briefing and a good culture amongst their teams
Onboarding and sourcing a recommended resource
