The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Kilnbridge as an Engineer - Survey & Investigation Lead, providing strategic leadership across our group-wide surveying capability.
You will act as the technical authority for surveying operations, overseeing structural and geospatial surveying activities across multiple operating companies. Working with embedded teams, you will ensure consistency, quality and innovation in survey delivery, while supporting both project teams and commercial growth.
This role offers a unique blend of technical leadership, stakeholder engagement and business development, with the opportunity to shape and scale the surveying function as the business continues to grow.
What you’ll do
Provide strategic oversight of surveying activities across all group companies
Develop and promote Kilnbridge’s surveying capability both internally and externally
Support work winning by contributing expert input at tender stage
Identify opportunities for follow-on work and wider business growth through survey activities
Develop specifications for surveys, investigations and testing
Coordinate and optimise the allocation of surveying personnel and equipment
Standardise reporting formats and ensure consistent, high-quality outputs
Produce clear, insightful and technically robust reports and analysis
Establish and implement surveying standards, including accuracy, tolerances and methodologies
Conduct audits of survey data to ensure compliance with standards and best practice
Build strong, collaborative relationships with Managing Directors and key stakeholders
Provide technical guidance on complex surveying challenges across projects
What you’ll need
Chartered Member of a relevant professional institution (e.g. IStructE, CICES or RICS)
Bridge Inspector Certification (or willingness to achieve upon joining)
Extensive experience in structural and/or geospatial surveying
Proven experience leading surveying teams and coordinating resources across multiple projects
Strong knowledge of surveying processes, regulations and industry standards (including RICS)
Familiarity with CDM regulations and HSE requirements for site-based work
High level of technical expertise in surveying equipment, techniques and emerging technologies
Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery environments
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to produce high-quality technical reports and presentations
Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
