We’re looking for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join Kilnbridge’s Fire Protection team, supporting the commercial delivery of specialist fire protection projects across a range of regulated and safety‑critical environments. This role is ideal for someone at the start of their quantity surveying career who wants hands‑on exposure to fire protection works, strong commercial training and structured support towards professional development.
What you’ll do
· Support the commercial management of fire protection packages, including passive and specialist works.
· Assist with cost planning, budgets and forecasts across fire protection projects, helping to track spend and value.
· Prepare and support interim valuations, applications for payment and final accounts for fire protection works.
· Assist with contract administration under JCT and NEC contracts, including variations and compensation events specific to fire protection scopes.
· Support procurement of specialist fire protection subcontractors, including enquiries, bid reviews and value-for-money assessments.
· Contribute to monthly commercial reporting, cost-to-complete reviews and cash flow forecasts.
· Attend site meetings and work closely with site teams to understand installation progress and commercial impacts.
· Help maintain accurate records for contracts, variations, valuations and subcontractor accounts.
· Take part in CPD and lessons learned activities, building knowledge of fire protection standards, systems and compliance requirements.
· Work safely at all times, supporting Kilnbridge’s high standards in health, safety and fire compliance.
What you’ll need
· A degree (or currently studying towards one) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
· An interest in fire protection, safety‑critical construction and working in regulated environments.
· A basic understanding of construction contracts and quantity surveying principles, with a willingness to develop specialist fire knowledge.
· Strong attention to detail, good organisation and the ability to manage priorities effectively.
· Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with site teams and subcontractors.
· Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
· A proactive mindset, eagerness to learn and commitment to building a long-term career in quantity surveying.
· Any exposure to construction sites or specialist trades is beneficial, but not essential.
