We’re looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in Kilnbridge’s Fire Protection team, leading the commercial delivery of complex, safety‑critical projects across the UK. This is an opportunity to take ownership of high‑profile fire protection works, influence commercial strategy, and help shape best practice in a highly regulated and growing area of the industry, all while developing your career within a supportive, employee‑owned business.
What you’ll do
· Take end‑to‑end commercial ownership of fire protection projects, ensuring strong financial control and profitable delivery.
· Lead cost planning, forecasting, cash flow and cost‑to‑complete reviews across multiple live schemes.
· Oversee interim valuations, final accounts, invoicing and payments, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely recovery.
· Manage contracts under JCT and NEC forms, including variations, compensation events, claims and final negotiations.
· Identify and manage commercial, contractual and regulatory risk within safety‑critical fire protection environments.
· Develop and implement procurement strategies for specialist fire protection subcontractors, driving value and performance.
· Produce clear, insightful commercial reports for senior leadership and support audits and governance requirements.
· Represent the commercial function in senior management discussions and contribute to business planning and improvement initiatives.
· Support tendering and bid development, providing strong commercial input and building lasting client relationships.
· Lead, mentor and develop Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff, setting high standards and supporting career progression.
· Work closely with site teams, clients and internal stakeholders to ensure commercial decisions support safe, compliant delivery.
What you’ll need
· A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
· Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within fire protection, remediation or similarly regulated construction sectors.
· Strong knowledge of passive fire protection works and working within safety‑critical, compliance‑led environments.
· Excellent understanding of NEC and JCT contracts, including change control, claims and dispute management.
· A solid track record in commercial reporting, forecasting, risk management and financial performance.
· Experience procuring and managing specialist subcontractor packages.
· Confident leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to influence at multiple levels.
· A professional, detail‑focused and ethical approach to commercial management.
· Strong Excel skills and confidence using commercial reporting tools.
