This is an exciting opportunity to join our Design Engineering team as a Senior Detailer within the Structures & Envelope space, playing a key role in delivering high-quality fabrication detailing across a wide range of projects. You will work closely with design, commercial and operational teams, contributing to the successful delivery of building envelope and structural packages.
You’ll bring strong technical capability, take ownership of key project elements, and support the wider team to ensure designs are accurate, coordinated and delivered on programme.
What you’ll do
· Lead by example in terms of detailing capability and technical knowledge
· Support the Senior Design Manager and Project Design Manager by taking ownership of elements within projects
· Produce detailed fabrication and installation drawings using Tekla Structures
· Develop and detail building envelope systems, including support structures and interfaces with adjacent works
· Interpret architectural and structural drawings and specifications
· Coordinate with internal manufacturing teams, external suppliers and site installation teams
· Raise survey requests and support effective information flow between teams
· Liaise with Quantity Surveyors regarding design changes and their commercial impact
· Communicate effectively with clients and external stakeholders regarding drawing progress
· Identify and specify specialist finishes including anodising, galvanising and powder coating
· Support and mentor Detailers and Junior Detailers as required
· Attend meetings with internal teams and clients where required
· Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines and design targets
What you’ll need:
· Experience in structural and building envelope detailing, ideally within a fabrication or construction environment
· Strong technical knowledge of cladding, roofing systems and their support structures
· Good understanding of interface management and coordination across multiple systems
· Knowledge of structural steel, metalwork, fixings and fabrication processes
· Experience using Tekla Structures and AutoCAD
· Awareness of commercial considerations and programme requirements during design
· Understanding of finishing systems such as painting and powder coating
· Experience working with materials such as steel, aluminium, glass and architectural metalwork
· Strong communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
· A qualification in Design, Engineering or a related discipline (desirable)
